Anxiety and Depression Treatment at Catch a Fish Acupuncture & Wellness
Anxiety and depression are the third most common reasons people seek help at Catch a Fish Acupuncture & Wellness. Studies show that 28% of Americans will experience anxiety or depression during their lifetime. In 2014, the top-selling pharmaceuticals were for treating both anxiety and depression.
At Catch a Fish Acupuncture & Wellness in Herndon, VA, we’ve found that patients who respond well to acupuncture for pain relief often experience significant improvements in their anxiety and depression symptoms as well. Our patients range from those with mild, everyday anxiety—such as stress at work—to those dealing with more severe symptoms, including feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope with daily interactions. Many patients find themselves avoiding crowds, shopping at off-peak hours, or seeking remote work opportunities.
For some, the process involves gradual progress with occasional setbacks, while for others, improvement is swift. If there’s no noticeable effect by the fifth acupuncture treatment, we will explore other holistic treatment options that might be a better fit for your needs. Our 3-Stage Approach to Treating Anxiety and Depression
At Catch a Fish Acupuncture & Wellness, we use a three-stage approach to treat anxiety and depression. Most of our patients are also working with a counselor or therapist of their choice, which we recommend in combination with acupuncture for optimal results.
-
Stage One: Strengthening the Body
In the first stage, we focus on strengthening and revitalizing our patients with acupuncture and/or massage. We also assess dietary changes and recommend herbal remedies based on the patient’s unique body type. We often identify one key area of weakness that may be triggering the symptoms of anxiety or depression. -
Stage Two: Releasing Tension
The second stage involves relieving any bodily tension that may be hindering the healing process. Many patients unknowingly hold their bodies in ways that lock in anxiety and stress. Our goal is to help release these patterns and restore balance. -
Stage Three: Teaching Wellness Practices
The final stage teaches our patients how to calm the mind and body using breathwork, meditation, and other basic wellness practices. These tools help you cope with life’s stressors and build long-term resilience.

“I came to Brian with several longstanding issues: a bad back, tendinitis in my arm, and some deep, unrelenting feelings of sadness. Although previous treatments–massage and psychotherapy specifically–had offered some relief, nothing seemed to get to the heart of the matter. After working with Brian for several months, my back and tendinitis dissipated, and the source of my sadness became clear. The combination of Brian’s extraordinary spirit and Catch a Fish’s Wellness plan (which I had never done before) did the job. For this–and for Brian–I feel enormous gratitude.”
