How Acupuncture Supports Fertility

Research suggests that acupuncture may help optimize reproductive health by improving blood circulation to the uterus and ovaries, regulating cycles, assisting with stress reduction during IVF/IUI, and supporting overall hormonal balance. Each session is tailored to your individual needs to maximize comfort and fertility outcomes.

Personalized Fertility Support Backed by Experience

Under the guidance of Brian Wah, our fertility-focused acupuncture treatments are designed to improve ovarian health, increase blood flow to reproductive organs, balance hormones, and lower stress — all of which play a vital role in increasing conception success. This integrative approach has been shown to complement Western fertility treatments such as IVF and IUI, helping support the body naturally.

We understand the challenges of age-related infertility and offer personalized care for both women and men. Whether you’re currently working with a fertility center or pursuing a natural conception journey, our treatments may help improve reproductive health and enhance overall well-being.

Our clinic’s success rates and patient testimonials reflect our commitment to holistic fertility support, making us a trusted resource for individuals and couples hoping to grow their families.

What makes Catch a Fish Wellness unique is the personal journey of our lead practitioner. Brian Wah and his wife did not begin trying for a family until age 37 and 35, respectively. Their experience has shaped their approach and given them a compassionate understanding of the emotional and physical challenges involved—especially for those trying to conceive later in life.

The Role of Chinese Medicine in Fertility Support

Over the past five years, Chinese Medicine — including acupuncture and herbal methods — has gained major recognition for improving fertility outcomes in both women and men. It’s often discussed in fertility success stories, medical research studies such as those published at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4396152/, and even featured in media reports like Dr. Oz’s fertility segment.

At Catch a Fish Wellness (https://www.catchafishllc.com/fertility), we focus specifically on fertility acupuncture treatment, supporting individuals and couples who may be experiencing cycle irregularity, hormonal imbalance, low ovarian reserve, IVF or IUI preparation, and other fertility-related concerns. Our approach focuses on improving reproductive function, enhancing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and helping your body naturally increase its readiness for conception.

We are proud to have helped many patients improve their fertility naturally and, in some cases, successfully conceive after months or even years of difficulty. Whether you are preparing for IVF, exploring natural conception, or seeking additional support during reproductive treatments, our fertility acupuncture care in Herndon, VA is designed to complement your medical plan and improve your chances of success.

Acupuncture Testimonial“Brian is the best! He helped me tremendously while I was struggling with fertility treatments. He assured me that after 2 months of acupuncture, I would have much better results with fertility treatment and he was right! I saw a huge difference in the outcome of my treatment cycles compared to my cycle before starting acupuncture.

Brian also has a great schedule and he’s very flexible. He rearranged his personal schedule on several occasions just so he could treat me when I needed it. He also came on his day off, a Sunday, just to treat me the day of my embryo transfer. Not many people are willing to do that!”

We also work with a group of women and men who, despite feeling generally healthy, are struggling with fertility. They often say, “We’re doing all the right things, but it’s just not happening.” This group typically follows a diet that’s close to vegetarian, with maybe a small amount of lean meat once a week, a lot of dairy, fresh salads, raw fruits, smoothies, and fresh fruits. However, according to Chinese Medicine, this type of diet may be too deficient for their body type, lacking the essential nutrients and building blocks needed to be highly fertile. By incorporating herbal remedies, dietary therapy, and acupuncture for fertility, we aim to heat the body, strengthen it, and restore balance. This approach increases energy levels, improves sleep, and enhances sexual health, ultimately supporting fertility. A key lesson is that the “right” diet and lifestyle choices promoted by the media are often not suitable for a deficient body type. You can see this happen again and again on any pain or anybody area that’s not functioning properly and not getting enough blood flow.  This leads us to the question: What is Chinese Medicine’s definition of health?  Chinese Medicine defines health as “Smooth flowing, nutritious, highly oxygenated blood coursing freely through the body.”  Any disruption in this for an extended period of time and you have pain, sickness and disease.

When our patients first begin treatment, they have a lot of worry on their mind and a ton of anxiety about what is the right and best things to eat and do as there’s so much conflicting information.  Why does one food or supplement help one population group so much and hinders or does the exact opposite to another group?  It’s because medicine, herbs and food prescriptions should be given based on the individual not as blanket statements across the board. At Catch a Fish Wellness we give dietary advice, herbal formulas, lifestyle changes and acupuncture based on your unique set of wellness challenges and the “climate” of your body.  The climate of your body is the foundation for how Chinese Medicine treats illness and disease. Your body could be too Hot, too Cold, too Dry, too Damp, too Stagnant. Many in Chinese Medicine like to compare one’s body to a Garden’s health.  For example, if you’re a gardener would you give the same gardening advice for the plants below?

Of course not!  Each plant is suffering from vastly different climates (too hot, too cold, too dry, too damp, too much mold).  This is exactly what’s happening in dietary advice, herbal advice and lifestyle advice. Across the board dietary advice doesn’t help everyone and definitely does not heal the garden as a whole.  For example:  The dietary plan of eating all raw foods worked for your neighbor because they have an inherent “heat” condition and the raw “cooled” down the heat.  If you have a “cold” condition eating a diet that’s based on “cold” will cause bloating and gas and may you feel horrible.  Those herbs recommended by your favorite blog article works great if your body is set up for that particular herb.  Meaning if you have too much “dampness” and that herb’s job is to get rid of dampness then it works.  If your body is too dry and you ingest herbs that make you drier…you suddenly become way too dry…so your symptoms would get more severe.  It’s about what the individual person needs. When you go in for your first treatment at CAF we can tell you what the climate of your body is and gear yourself toward herbs, foods and lifestyles that help you get well.

Acupuncture Testimonial“I went to Brian for about six months to help with fertility issues. This was my first experience with acupuncture, and it was very positive. Brian helped me completely redesign my diet to help my body become stronger in order to hold a pregnancy. He has a very calming bedside manner and is very professional. I highly recommend him.”

When we perform your initial examination and diagnosis we’ll determine if your body is either too hot, too cold, too stagnant and too excess or deficient.  Then we’ll set the course for your treatment plan and slowly build you up and start to check off the health issues one by one. As your body regains strength and starts to de stress your organ systems will start to work in harmony again.  How do we know?  We will feel in your pulse these changes.  More importantly, you’ll feel so much better, and we’ll hopefully see it in your blood work from your doctor also.

To determine if you’re a good candidate for acupuncture please schedule your first treatment today and we’ll determine how effective acupuncture will be for you. To schedule call our office at: (703) -278-2271 during regular business hours or send an email anytime (we typically respond within 1-4 hours): admin@catchafishLLC.com

We look forward to getting to know you and show you how to catch your own fish toward feeling better!
